Prof. Carlos Sena Caires

Title: AI: YOUR NEW DESIGN PARTNER: REIMAGINE CREATIVITY THROUGH TEXT-TO-IMAGE MODELS


BIO:

Professor Carlos Sena Caires obtained a Bachelor's degree in Design from the University of Madeira, Portugal in 1994. He then received a Master's degree in Digital Arts from Portugal in 2001 and a Doctorate in Aesthetics, Science and Technology of Arts from the University of Paris 8, France in 2010. Since 2011, he has also served as the coordinator of the Master's degree in Sound and Image and the postgraduate degree in Digital Design. From 2010 to 2013, he was the editor-in-chief of the Journal of Art, Science and Technology. 

His main research directions are digital design, interactive art, and new media design. He has performed in various places around the world, including Portugal, Spain, France, Brazil, Canada, and China. His creative art projects focus on interactive video installations, films, and digital art/video installations.

Prof. Jinhui Li

Title: Algorithmic Bias in Social Media: Issues, Methods and Extensions


BIO:

Currently, he is a professor and doctoral supervisor at the School of Journalism and Communication of Jinan University, a researcher at the Computational Communication Research Center, and a recipient of the "Jinan University Talent Program" and "Jinan University Outstanding Young Scholar". He holds a Ph.D. and postdoctoral degree from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, and was a visiting scholar at the School of Journalism and Communication of The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2023 and a visiting researcher at Turku University of Applied Sciences in Finland in 2016. He was selected for the "Top 2% Global Scientists" list released by Stanford University and Elsevier, and has won the Best Paper Award at the International Communication Association Annual Conference (ICA), the Third Prize in the Guangdong Province University Young Teachers' Teaching Competition, the "President's Award for Undergraduate Teaching" at Jinan University, and the title of "Outstanding Undergraduate Thesis Supervisor" at Jinan University. He has published over 50 papers and books, including more than 30 SSCI/SCI papers. He has led two National Social Science Foundation projects (one key and one youth), one international joint project, and six provincial and ministerial-level and university-level projects. He is also a specially invited reviewer for many top domestic and international journals and research funds.

Speech Title: From Brain Waves to Big Data: A Dual Perspective on Microscopic and Macroscopic Social Impact Research


BIO:

Song Yao, a doctoral graduate from the School of Design of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (2021), a master's degree in Management from Bocconi University of Italy (2014), and a master's degree in Economics from Shanghai International Studies University (2011). Currently, she is a specially-appointed researcher at the School of Literature and Journalism of Sichuan University, an associate researcher at the School of Design of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and a researcher at the Korea Cultural Strategy Center. She previously served as a user experience research expert at Alibaba Group. She is proficient in using methods such as big data, neuroscience, and computational communication to study art digitization, art management, intelligent design, and creative generation mechanisms. She has published over 30 academic papers, including more than 20 in SSCI/A&HCI/SCI journals, and has authored one academic monograph. Her design works have won the Gold Award in the MuS Design Competition in the United States. She has led and participated in projects including the Hong Kong Research Grants Council Doctoral Fund Project, the National Art Planning Fund Project, the Innovation Humanities and Social Sciences Major Project of the Shanghai Science and Technology Commission, and the Anhui Philosophy and Social Sciences Planning Project. She also serves as the chairperson of the Design Division of the International Art and Design Association (iSand) and is invited to chair the Design Division of the Eurasian Art and Design Annual Conference (ACAND 2022) held at the University College of London.
